Festival Fever
The phase of fun and freedom has begun as festival season beckons. Coachella gets the party started and serves as a sartorial starter. It influences the style of festival goers at UK festivals from Glastonbury, to Wireless and of course let’s not forget Leeds Festival on Yorkshire soil. Adapt some of the trends that emerged from the Californian desert and interpret into wearable, adaptable outfits no matter what the British weather throws at us.
WESTERN VIBES
Rodeo-inspired items dominated the spring/summer 18 catwalks and emerged at Coachella as a definite festival trend. Bust out cowboy boots and denim to go full ‘yeehaw’ at home-grown festivals.
HOW TO WEAR IT:
Pair denim cut-offs with a plaid shirt for a wearable way to capture Western vibes. Introduce accessories that bring a Wild West influence to your look. It is in the small details, think fringing, leather, and studs. Saddle up, as the Western influence was also seen on the autumn/winter catwalks. Invest in key pieces, safe in the knowledge they will carry you through to next season.

HOW TO WEAR IT:
Pay homage to the seventies but with a modern spin. These jeans from J Brand with a kick flare are a perfect example.
Let the freedom of the seventies inspire and unleash your inner bohemian. Adorn yourself with glitter from head to toe.
Introduce another micro-trend into the mix, behold the fluffy sandal! Ankle-length trousers are perfect for exhibiting statement sliders.

SASSY STREETWEAR
Festivals aren’t all about chilling out in a field, there are many urban festivals taking on their rural rivals. The metropolitan backdrop dictates an edgy aesthetic.
HOW TO WEAR IT:
For a gritty style suitable for an inner-city festival, keep classic nineties sportswear pieces in mind and stick to a neutral palette. Elevate utilitarian pieces by choosing luxe fabrics. Think sweatpants in cashmere, leather or high quality jersey to make the grade.
Start at the bottom, sneakers are the cornerstone of a great streetwear look. A high-end brand and boxfresh are prerequisites.
