When Nick Rickards and his partner Emma Siviter first set foot on the enchanting island of Bali back in 2015, their lives were transformed.

For this was not just a holiday, it was an eye-opening experience that would change their lives forever and inspire a business idea that nine years later has now come to fruition.

It was the island’s rich culture and stunning craftsmanship that caught their imagination and inspired by the art, the people and the way of life they decided they wanted to share that magic with people back home.

Noticing a gap in the UK market, they realised the true Bali style of living and its artisan products were surprisingly hard to find and so the pair set about realising a dream that would allow people to bring a piece of Bali’s unique spirit into their own homes.

It was the birth of The Bali Concept and now nearly a decade on the pair have launched their own on-line business and showroom in Yorkshire that offers people the chance to purchase authentic handmade furniture and décor that is full of soul and brings a slice of Bali’s serenity and beauty into their lives.

Nick said: “That trip to Bali changed our lives and it was an opportunity to create a bridge between two worlds and share the true beauty of Balinese culture and art with people back in the UK.

“We had seen enough products sold without soul and our vision of The Bali Concept was different, we wanted each item we sourced to tell a story and to carry a bit of Bali with it. It wasn’t just about selling furniture, it was about sharing a culture, a dream and a piece of a place that had captured our hearts and the hearts of so many people who visit it.”
