Having been deprived of so much festive fun in 2020, this year will see the welcome return of those much-loved Christmas markets, fairs and winter attractions.
Clementine Hall picks eight worth checking out over the coming months to really get you in the festive mood.
Chow Down Leeds, Winter Village
11th November – 31st December
Having been a huge hit this summer, Chow Down are revamping Temple Arches into a winter wonderland of fun and festive frolics. Headline DJs, live bands, fire pits, Christmas cocktails, delicious street food and even a rooftop curling club will ensure you have everything you need to get in the spirit this winter.
St Nicholas Fair, York
18th November – 23rd December
There is no better way to start feeling festive than wandering through the historical cobbled streets of York and this year will be even more special with the return of the alpine chalets where a host of local traders will be selling unique gifts and delightfully tasty treats.
Harrogate Christmas Market
18th – 21st November
This four-day festive market, held on The Stray, is a must-visit if you’re a lover of all things Yorkshire. Packed with a wealth of high-quality produce from across the region, this year will see nearly 200 stalls selling everything from Yorkshire cheeses to handmade Christmas decorations.
Whitby Christmas Market
26th – 28th November
Combine a day at the beach with some festive shenanigans and head to Whitby where this year’s Christmas Market will be home to a spectacular range of stalls, lantern parades, live music and fabulous firework displays.
Winter Wonderland, Leeds
26th November – 31st December
Leeds might have lost its famous German Christmas Market again this year but fear not as Millennium Square will be turned into a winter wonderland with an ice rink, Igloo bar and pop-up market stalls from November 26.
The Christmas Market at Leeds Corn Exchange
19th November – 19th December
Rolling Social Events have joined forces with Leeds Corn Exchange to bring a new festive market experience to life in the iconic Corn Exchange building. For five weeks the Christmas Market will take over from Thursdays to Sundays, bringing a rotating line-up of world cuisine, plus masterclasses, craft beers and games.
Christmas at The Piece Hall
19th November – 31st December
The magnificent Piece Hall is transformed into a real winter wonderland as the festive season gets underway. In addition to the spectacular 30ft Christmas tree and traditional carousel, the region’s favourite independent craft stalls, artisan makers and pop-up food and drink traders will be there for the Winter Makers Market on 19 – 21 and 26 – 28 November.
The Great Yorkshire Christmas Fair
2nd – 5th December
Held at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate this is the place for gorgeous gifts and where a wealth of exclusive boutique companies will tempt you with products you won’t find on the high street.
