Fresh from performing to over 1000 gig goers at Leeds Crypt Factor 2025 and with limited copies of their eponymous debut LP highly sought after, Leeds indie trio The Calls are making their voice heard on the northern music scene and are undoubtedly destined for greatness.

Five years after the world went into lockdown, Leeds band The Calls have finally emerged from the darkness with an album that has been a long-time coming but well worth the wait.

It been a long journey for the indie trio who first began working on their debut album during those dark Covid days whilst juggling delivery jobs to help fund the recording of their ambitious vision.

And late last year after much tweaking, refining and experimenting, the record finally emerged, bestowing a stunning, panoramic sonic landscape upon their listeners.

From the epic indie/psych rock opener ‘Red Sky’, which is reminiscent of Tame Impala and the legendary Pink Floyd, through to the jangle pop/shoegaze trio of singles ‘Leave Me Alone’, ‘If There’s A Heaven’ and ‘In The Haze’, the album is a triumphant  powerhouse of a record, featuring both earworm singles and complex deep cuts.

As a debut it stands proudly among the classics, with its intricate sounds and rich textures, with pure songwriting seated at its foundation.

This is perfectly complemented by the striking artwork, an abstract painting crafted by Andy Crofts of The Moons and Paul Weller’s band, which wonderfully epitomises the mood and style of the record. This album musically and sonically evokes both the past, the present and the future of indie music, and in short, is bloody good.

Hailing from the thriving musical bedrock of Leeds, The Calls remain a proudly defiant DIY band who write, rehearse and record their music in an old barn. The trio are driven by the unconventional songwriting of Tom Fuller, who puts an introspective slant on social observations through cryptic wordplay and metaphor, with lyrics often reflective and always deeply personal.

Yorkshire’s favourite music hub Local Sound Focus recently appraised their work saying:

“Music this good, beyond good, is something special; leaving you blissed out and in a beautiful place. Do we really need anything more?”

Probably not, because having just seen them blow the house away at their recent gig at Soundbar in Skipton, this is one band who are definitely on the brink of something special.

To a packed house they delivered hit after hit from their album with front man Fuller pulling the strings and leaving fans in a state of euphoria.

Keep your ears open for these likeable lads from Leeds because mark our words, this isn’t the last you’ll be hearing of them.
