WELL GROOMED
When it comes to your wedding day, you need to look your very best and at Norton & Townsend they will work with you every step of the way to create the perfect wedding suit.
When Norton & Townsend launched 30 years ago their aim was to nurture a long and lasting relationship with their clients, in order to build a wardrobe that was ready for anything.
Three decades on and their reputation for delivering bespoke tailored suits and fully immersing themselves in their customer’s requirements and individual style remains at the forefront of all they do.
Many of their clients have grown up with Norton & Townsend from an early age and having helped develop their wardrobe from that first ever suit, the long-standing tailoring outfit pride themselves on not just creating elegant pieces but also fully understanding the size, shape and preferences of each individual.
It is this attention to detail and close relationship that ensures they know their clients from top to toe and are always able to deliver the perfect fit for all occasions.
And when it comes to looking the part, there is no bigger occasion than your wedding day.
Over the years Norton & Townsend have been on hand to oversee the creation of hundreds of wedding suits for both long-standing clients and new customers who have never stepped foot in a tailor’s shop in their life.
But whether it is working with somebody for the first time or the hundredth time, their meticulous approach to detail and getting to know the groom and his exact requirements for the big day remains the same.
Co-owner Victoria Thompson explained: “We often meet a client for the first time as he’s choosing his wedding suit.
“They might already have an idea of what they want, but are unsure of how to achieve it, or alternatively, they may have no preconceived idea whatsoever and so we are on hand to advise and suggest ideas throughout the whole process.”
But Victoria admits there are a few questions and tricks of the trade that will give the tailors at Norton & Townsend a great insight into helping create the most stylish and flattering look for any groom to be.
Victoria added: “Knowing the colour scheme of the wedding party and the style for the bridesmaids is always a great starting point and gives us a good idea for the groom.
“Whilst the look of the men at any wedding should complement and not compete with the bride and her maids, this doesn’t mean you need to fade into the background.
“There are some bold colours and looks out there that work incredibly well, so if you are looking for something a bit different we have no shortage of more unusual options to show you.
“Come prepared if you can, bring pictures of things you like, drawings, sketches, colour samples and themes, and let us get to know you both. We’re always happy to have a separate chat with the bride in confidence and take a look at the styling and choices that may have been kept top secret and guide a groom away from a bad match.”
At Norton & Townsend, their philosophy is that a wedding suit shouldn’t be something you wear just once and so they will always encourage you to look beyond the big day and ensure it won’t be a suit that hangs in a wardrobe and never comes out again.
Victoria added: “We always want you to look for other occasions to wear your wedding suit, so don’t be surprised if we go off piste when discussing your outfit as there’s method in our madness!”
Picking your wedding suit is arguably the most important outfit you will ever choose and at Norton & Townsend you’ll be armed with all the knowledge you need to make the right choice and achieve your own personalised look.
Victoria added: “On such a big occasion we want to make you feel and look your very best and after 30 years in the business, we know the rules. We know which of them to break and if you set the limits, we’ll happily push them.”
