on our radar
This month at beyond we have been mainly…..
KNITTING
While the red carpet has gone left-field with big fits, corsets, harnesses, skirts and really, really wide trousers, there’s one piece that’s causing a big stir and that’s the knitted polo.
Worn by everyone from Michael B Jordon to Chris Evans and Dwayne Johnson to Tom Holland, it’s a look that has long been a signature in the wardrobe of grandfathers and cool uncles and one that hasn’t seen its star shine as brightly since the 1950s.
But it ain’t just the Hollywood big dogs who want a really good knitted polo and the likes of Pretty Green, Cos, Percival and Zara have jumped on the bandwagon to give the modern man the look that’s all the rage.
Characterised by a soft collar, buttoned fastening, and knit construction, it’s a timeless addition to your wardrobe and if you haven’t got one, the only question we’re asking is: why the hell not?
RUMMAGING
Still one of our most amazing finds of the year is, er…Amazing Finds – the magical and mystical home to all sorts of antiques, curiosities, and things you don’t really need but will undoubtedly end up taking home.
Located in the heart of Bingley in an old billiard hall, it’s well worth a visit, just tell them beyond sent you.
LIGHTING
Pooky is shining its light on Yorkshire with a stunning new showroom at Redbrick. A brand well known and loved for its striking lighting solutions, Pooky’s bestselling and favourite pieces will be on full display on the second floor at Redbrick and we can’t wait to check them out.
DRINKING
Anything born in Yorkshire and crafted in Mexico sounds right up our street and we’re loving the arrival of HACIEN Tequila into our lives. Having launched three varieties last year, it is going down a storm, with their Pineapple Bianco particularly revolutionising the public perception of this party drink. Available online and in Harvey Nichols, Dakota and Selfridges, as well as a host of bars, it’s been our drink of the summer.
LISTENING
A celebration of two of his biggest solo shows, Liam Gallagher’s ‘Knebworth 22’ live album has been getting a fair bit of airplay in the beyond HQ this summer. The album released alongside a live video of the closing song ‘Champagne Supernova’ went straight to number one and features Liam’s biggest solo songs, a selection of iconic Oasis anthems and a few deep cuts for good measure.
WATCHING
Our favourite jewellery haunt has long been Lister Horsfall in Halifax and Ilkley and a place where we’ll never tire of pushing our noses against the window and dreaming of our next watch.
Stocking some of the biggest brands in the business including Rolex, Omega, Brietling, Tudor and Tag, there’s always a warm welcome from Nick and the team, and with Christmas round the corner, it’s well worth a visit if you’re looking for that something special to slip round your wrist, neck or finger.
INKING
When it comes to getting some ink, here at beyond, there’s only one man we turn to and that is the genius of Daniele Falzone – owner and creative genius behind tattoo and piercing shop Albion Ink. Based in Leeds, his creations and detailing are out of this world and we can’t recommend him enough.

SCHMOOZING
After a £2 million make-over, Leeds institution, Restaurant Bar and Grill is back, bigger, better and bolder. The City Square venue is looking swankier than ever with a stunning new menu which focuses on seasonally inspired British cooking and a big nod to steak lovers with the introduction of their Butchers Table. Weekend entertainment has also been updated to include DJs from 6 pm till late on Friday and Saturday evenings while an all-new bottomless brunch is sure to go down a storm.
FLICKING
After a long-awaited £4.8 million refurb, our favourite picture house re-opened this summer after three years getting some much-needed TLC.
Hyde Park Picture House – which first opened in 1914 – has undergone extensive improvements to the auditorium, entrance halls, stairways and exterior plus there’s also the arrival of a 50-seat second screen, making a trip to this romantic picture house more enjoyable than ever.
