PONY TALES
Simplistic ponytails let Nabil Nayla’s Elizabethaninspired collection (and eccentric choice of make-up) do all the talking at this LFW spring/summer 2019 show. A sleek, simple ponytail looked effortless and non-descript, yet the addition of lightly backcombed roots – a bid to create a modern day version of Queen Elizabeth I’s bouffant – added a hint of regal drama.
Get the look:
Spray Revlon Professional Style Masters Hairspray No.3 lightly into the hair to build body and hold throughout, before lightly backcombing the top section. Pull back into a tight pony, and then smooth through the ends with a light serum. Create a contrasting texture through the roots by lightly rubbing against the direction of the hair, to create that tell-tale halo of fuzz. Permanent marker scribbles on face, optional!
Insider tip:
Ponytails are an incredibly powerful style, with the ability to steal the show and take a backseat, all at the same time. These particular ponytails did exactly that. The key is to create a chic, simple pony, and then inject a little edge with an unexpected feature, such as the backcombed roots and soft-focus halo effect created here.
