WITH THIS RING…
For 116 years Lister Horsfall has led the way when it comes to jewellery in Yorkshire with their wedding bands and bridal service, arguably one of the best in the business. Here we look at why no bride and groom should ever start life together without a visit to Lister Horsfall and some of the most commonly asked questions they are asked.
A t Lister Horsfall we don’t believe that choosing a wedding ring is just another job on the to do list, something to be squeezed in between buying the dress and organising the honeymoon.
We believe that it is a special occasion in its own right. That’s why in our Ilkley and Halifax stores we created our bridal areas, intimate settings where you can explore and try on the different ranges. Here, you can also seek advice and ring recommendations from our down-to-earth and experienced team, whilst relaxing and soaking up this special moment with complimentary Champagne.
We stock a range of styles to suit all manner of tastes, and at the heart of that is our commitment to providing our customers with exceptional quality. With 116 years’ experience, we know the questions to ask and the best advice to give to ensure you leave with the perfect ring for you.
We are getting married next spring, when should we start to shop for our rings?
On average, couples start to choose their wedding rings about three months before the wedding. However, if you would like a bespoke set making, we’d advise starting the process about six months before. However, we do cater for those quick turnaround moments where couples don’t want to wait before tying the knot!
Realistically, how much of our wedding budget should we set aside for rings?
We apply the same principles as shopping for an engagement ring when advising customers – it doesn’t matter how much you spend, but you should agree a price range and stick to it. After all, we want our customers to enjoy such a special moment and feel comfortable with what they have spent so it doesn’t impact on their budget for the big day.
I don’t just want a plain gold wedding band, is there anything else you can recommend?
Recently we’ve seen a rise in rose gold styles and mixed metals, which is probably because so many couples are looking for something a little different and more individual to them. As ever though, platinum and palladian are popular, and we’d recommend choosing platinum due to its brightness in colour and as it is a hardier metal.
I have a design of a wedding ring in mind but haven’t been able to find anything even remotely similar, can you help?
Absolutely! We offer a bespoke design service and we love working with couples to create the ring that is perfect for them. Even if you do decide to buy a ring from one of our ranges it’s also worth remembering that we offer a complimentary inscription service to ensure it is personal to you.
We’ve ordered our rings, but I am struggling to know what jewellery to wear with my dress and I need some tips.
The devil really is in the detail when it comes to bridal jewellery and we are always happy to advise. To ensure we make the right recommendations, we will need to know the cut and colour of your dress, along with the finer elements such as the neckline, sleeve length and bridal hairstyling.
In general though, solitaire and diamond line necklaces and earrings always look stunning, especially when paired with simple, elegant styles and boho-chic looks. We are also seeing a resurgence in pearls as there are some fabulous designs out there, from houses such as MIKIMOTO, for brides who are looking to pair a statement piece of jewellery with a pared back outfit.
I want to buy my husband a gift for our wedding day, is there anything you’d recommend?
A watch is always a fantastic gift as it marks the special moment in time and can be worn every day. From Rolex and Omega to Breitling and TAG Heuer, we have ranges for all budgets.
