word on the str-eat

This month Jordan Odu from Pink Gorilla presents a round-up of the Leeds restaurants well worth a visit over the festive season.

THE OLIVE TREE BRASSERIE

This December, The Olive Tree Brasserie arrives in Leeds, bringing its authentic take on Greek cuisine to South Parade. Expect a stylish, boho vibe and the perfect backdrop for a glorious brunch, lunch, or dinner. When day turns to night, the venue will transform into the ultimate late-night destination, complete with signature drinks and a soundtrack provided by their resident DJs. Meze and Main Course items include Mediterranean favourites such as Lamb Kleftico and Moussaka, while cocktails, such as the Greekstar Martini really hit the spot. Leeds city centre has been lacking a really good Greek restaurant and I can’t wait for this one to arrive.

HARVEY NICHOLS FOURTH FLOOR BRASSERIE

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Harvey Nichols, with the famous Fourth Floor Brasserie having unveiled a cosy new all-weather terrace where diners can indulge in their delicious winter and Christmas menus.

Designed exclusively for Harvey Nichols by the premium tequila brand Patrón El Cielo, the new heated terrace will channel a sophisticated look with muted silver, green and gold tones which take inspiration from their stylish bottle design. The terrace has undergone its biggest makeover to date, making it the perfect winter retreat to sip cocktails or take a break from shopping.

SALT X HUBB

Hot on the heels of this summer’s successful launch of Hubb in Halifax, the game-changing coffee brand has joined forces with the award-winning SALT Beer Factory to bring Leeds its first dedicated nitro coffee spot. Located in the popular SALT Leeds tap on East Parade, the partnership will create a unique craft and coffee experience in the city centre designed to take city dwellers from the crack of dawn until midnight. Alongside the smooth, creamy taste of Hubb nitro coffee, there’s a carefully curated collection of tasty treats ranging from flaky golden croissants to delicious thick cut sandwiches and SALT’s impressive selection of craft beers, artisan wines and ten second pour on-tap cocktails, which all make this a one-stop-shop for craft and caffeine junkies alike.

GREEN ROOM

As the temperatures drop, award-winning Green Room is embracing the festive season with its new Winter Garden. The roof terrace has been transformed into a cosy hideaway which is fully covered and boasts fire pits and heat lamps to keep you cosy. Green Room’s commitment to working with some of the best local independent brands also continues with a string of exciting collaborations starting with a kitchen takeover by Braizin Squad. The infamous trio of chefs bring their unique twist on all things smoked to their first-ever winter and Christmas menus. As well as a tempting selection of flavour-packed dishes available every day, Braizin Squad, who were voted one of the top 20 roasts in the UK last year, will be serving up Green Room’s first-ever Sunday roast and festive dishes, and trust me, they’re very good.
