I’m sure this isn’t the first time you’ve heard about award-winning vegetarian Indian restaurant Prashad but it’s one well worth banging on about. Based just outside Leeds, in Drighlington, they’re featured in the Michelin guide and it’s a place that combines two of my greatest passions – tasting menus and Indian food. Aside from their glorious menu, the staff and drinks can’t go unmentioned and I strongly recommend you treat yourself to the drink pairings as they really add to the whole experience, as do the wonderfully kind staff who simply can’t do enough for you. Don’t let the fact that they are a vegetarian restaurant put you off visiting, trust me the quality of the dishes they serve here could turn even the biggest carnivore off meat for good.

Having long been on my list of places to visit I finally made it to the picturesque village of Haworth and headed straight to a restaurant that’s been getting rave reviews online – The Hawthorn. This gorgeous Georgian gastro pub on the magical cobbled main street is filled with so much character and charm, you’ll never want to leave. With a menu full of delights, you’ll be spoilt for choice but their exquisite Sunday roast is guaranteed to blow you away as are their exciting new summer dishes. Bag yourself a table overlooking the main street, sit back, tuck in and just watch the world go by – you’ll absolutely love it.

Hidden away in Park Square, Leeds you’ll find the endearing La Piola, a cosy family-run spot that’s open from morning till night and serves up that homemade Italian greatness the heart so fondly desires. Whether it’s an intimate date night or catching up with a group of friends, this spot is perfect for any occasion. If you’re like me and have Italian food on the brain 24/7, this really is the place to head and  while the menu is brimming with delights, I strongly  recommend the spinach and ricotta ravioli with butter parmesan sauce. This is a place where the food is so good that even the simple is simply divine and don’t forget to order some small plates to share because you won’t want to miss a thing.

Recently opened  by the train station in Leeds city centre is Raw – a gorgeous place that beautifully combines speciality coffee and minimalist interiors to perfection. I am truly in my element in this kind of environment and it’s a place you really must visit. Make sure to not only try out the coffee but the mouth-watering bagels and the sweet treats as well, because I can confirm they are all delicious. If you haven’t got time to pop in for lunch, then swing by and treat yourself to a takeout iced latte or for something completely different try their blueberry iced matcha. You can thank me later!

Over in Ilkley, the return of one of the town’s favourite chefs has been met with delight by locals after he took over the pots and pans as head chef at Ilkley Moor Vaults.

Loc Bui, the former owner of popular Ilkley restaurant Bistro Saigon, is back doing what he does best – serving up a mouth-watering menu that is bursting with Vietnamese favourites that have been missing from our lives for too long. Make sure you check out the aromatic roast pork, his delicious spring rolls and his mouthwatering crispy mango chicken. For the more traditional, there’s also a hearty English menu bursting with pub favourites and a Sunday roast that is not to be missed.
