THE GARDEN ROOM
The Devonshire Arms in Bolton Abbey has long been home to some of the finest food in the Dales, so I was keen to try out their newly imagined culinary concept – The Garden Room. Offering a less formal dining experience than their former Burlington restaurant but with all the same high standards of excellence, this is a must visit if you’re looking for a tasting menu sensation or something equally delicious from their a la carte offering.
As a sucker for a tasting menu though, I was blown away by their seafood selection and paired with the expertly chosen wine list, it was a gastronomic journey you’ll not want to miss and the perfect place for that special treat.
PEEL ST SOCIAL
If you’re looking for a little day trip that’s not too far from Leeds, then Marsden on the outskirts of Huddersfield is a wonderful choice. Surrounded by lovely greenery and plenty of walking routes, the absolute gem of the village is Peel St Social. Bursting with character it’s just the best place to hang out and you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to deciding what to order off their vibrant menu. I’d strongly recommend taking a friend who loves to share food, so you get to try all the deliciousness in one go.
DAKOTA
There’s something really exciting happening at Dakota – the arrival of their new high end bottomless brunch. Sit back and relax in the luxury of their terrace and enjoy some great quality food and drinks. My top tip? Order the steak with a couple of sides for your main and the delicious banana pancake for dessert….you won’t regret it.
WENS
I often get asked what my favourite Chinese restaurant is in Leeds and whilst there are a few great ones, my new go-to is the wonderful Wens on North Street. The food here is lovingly prepared and cooked by Mama Wen herself and as its family-run you almost feel as if you’re dining in someone’s home. I recommend stepping outside of your comfort zone and exploring some of her left-field dishes, but be sure to make a booking for this place as they have a lot of walk-ins and get very busy.
LATITUDE
The sparkly new Latitude has arrived on The Calls and wow what a glow up it’s had! I’ve been lucky enough to drop in a few times now, and it doesn’t disappoint. From wine tasting to top tier cocktails and charcuterie boards, these guys have mastered it all and trust me, their espresso martini and clover club cocktail come highly recommended.
STUZZI
If you haven’t already been to Stuzzi, you’ll definitely have heard somebody banging on about how it’s the best Italian in town and in my opinion they’re not wrong. With an ever-changing menu you rarely get the same meal twice here, which is perfect if you love to try new dishes but whatever you do make sure you order their incredible arancini. Be it a last minute catch up with friends or a big birthday bash, it’s the ideal place to go to send your taste buds into overdrive.
