When Vicky and William Golding took over The Carriage bed showroom in 2015, little did they know that owning and running their own specialist business would be as eventful and challenging as it has been.

But fast forward 10 years and the couple can look back on the past decade with great pride having become one of the best bed retailers in the North of England and having picked up numerous awards along the way.

Talking about their anniversary, Vicky said: “When we took over the Burley-in-Wharfedale based business 10 years ago we could never have predicted what was to come and the challenges created by Brexit followed by 18 months of Covid restrictions and then the cost-of-living crisis, certainly tested our resilience.

“But along the way we’ve won awards, opened a second store, and grown and evolved the business beyond all our expectations to become one of the leading Specialist Bed Retailers in the North.”

And Vicky believes it has been their quality of products coupled with their hands-on approach and exceptional customer service that has truly set them apart in the industry and ensured the business has gone from strength to strength.

Vicky added: “In a marketplace that in recent years has been dominated by companies selling online rather than face-to-face, our ethos has always been to provide our customers with the best range of quality premium National Bed Federation (NBF) approved bed brands and mattresses to try in store.

“We also ensure that our customers receive the highest standard of personalised customer service and the very best possible buying experience at every point.”

Selling predominately NBF approved bed brands like Vispring, Somnus, Enchanted House and Millbrook at their Burley-in-Wharfedale store and Harrison Spinks and Highgrove Beds at their Guiseley store, they have raised the bar in terms of quality and established The Carriage as one of the region’s most trusted suppliers of quality beds across all budgets.

Promoting the benefits of buying in store, rather than online to ensure the customer gets the best advice in person, Vicky and the team have worked tirelessly to educate and support consumers and encourage them to consider their sleeping environment and quality of sleep as well as instil confidence that they know their stuff when it comes to beds.
