From some of the biggest names in comedy to outdoor cinema screenings and gigs to remember forever, here’s our run down of the best events in Yorkshire this summer.
1. BLACK TEETH AND A BRILLIANT SMILE:
Adaptation of Adelle Stripe’s brilliant book, which tells the story of Bradford’s Andrea Dunbar who went on to write Rita, Sue and Bob Too. The play opens at the city’s Ambassador pub and then tours.

2. PUB IN THE PARK:
Masterminded by Michelin star chef Tom Kerridge, this celebration of food and music at Leeds’ Roundhay Park will see pop-ups from chefs Tommy Banks and Andrew Pern and performances from Tom Odell and Basement Jaxx.

3. RUSSELL KANE:
Always something of a whirlwind on stage, in his latest show Kane again proves that the fast and the curious amongst us see more stuff and get more done as he muses on marriage, moving to the provinces and Brits abroad.

4. IAN MCKELLEN ON STAGE WITH TOLKIEN, OTHERS AND YOU:
To celebrate his 80th birthday, the Shakespearean actor now best known for his roles in Lord of the Rings and X Men brings his one-man tour to various theatres in Yorkshire this summer.

5. KELLY JONES:
The frontman and creative force behind Stereophonics heads out on a rare solo tour. Heralded as one of the finest voices of his generation, Jones will perform stripped-back versions of some of the band’s most famous songs.

6. JON ROBINS:
After winning the top prize at last year’s Edinburgh Festival with a set inspired by his break-up from fellow comedian Sara Pascoe, Robins arrives at The Wardrobe in Leeds with an exclusive preview of his latest show.

7. AJ BELL WORLD TRIATHLON:
Britain’s leading male and female triathletes compete head to head with the world’s best on the streets of Leeds. After they have run, swum and cycled their way round the city, see them come over the finishing line at Millennium Square.

8. LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE:
Musical version of the hit film which sees the dysfunctional Hoover family embark on a crosscountry road trip across the US in the hope of getting their daughter into the finals of a beauty pageant comes to Bradford’s Alhambra.

9. SHAKESPEARE’S ROSE THEATRE:
Returning to York for the second year running, throughout the summer this impressive recreation of an Elizabethan theatre will play host to Hamlet, Henry V, The Tempest and Twelfth Night.

10. FOREST LIVE:
Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire is one of the most picturesque backdrops for any gig and this year Paul Weller and Jess Glynne will be taking to the stage on consecutive nights.

11. ADVENTURES OF THE YORKSHIRE SHEPHERDESS:
Having won even more fans thanks to the Channel 5 series which screened earlier this year, Amanda Owen will be revealing all about life on one of Yorkshire’s most remote farms at King’s Hall in Ilkley.

12. AMELIE:
A new musical based on the much loved film takes to the stage of Bradford’s Alhambra. Audrey Brisson stars in the title role opposite former Hollyoaks actor and Strictly favourite Danny Mac.

13. GARBAGE:
American rock band, Garbage, perform at the 02 Academy in Leeds to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their beloved second record, Version 2.0. and the release of their seventh studio album.

14. CLASSIC IBIZA:
Experience some of the White Isle’s most iconic tunes, as the sun slowly sets at the beautiful Harewood House. Brought to life by the Urban Soul Orchestra, it’s a very Yorkshire version of Ibiza.

15. MEADOWFEST:
This year sees the launch of a new boutique music festival in Malton. The brainchild of Tom Naylor Leyland, who has helped transform the town into the Foodie Capital of Yorkshire, this should be worth a look.

16. LEWIS CAPALDI:
Having just scored his first UK Number One Single with Someone You Loved, the Scottish singer songwriter brings his impressive live show to Scarborough Open Air Theatre this summer.

17. OUTDOOR CINEMA:
Watch a trio of Hollywood hits in the grounds of Castle Howard. Over one weekend there is a chance to see Lady Gaga in A Star is Born, the multi-award-winning Bohemian Rhapsody and the ever-popular The Greatest Showman.

18. SYMPHONIC SOUNDS OF BACK TO BASICS:
Relive the heyday of one of Leeds’ most famous club nights as a 60-piece orchestra performs iconic dance anthems in Millennium Square alongside an array of special guest artists.

19. JAMES ACASTER:
His latest show is named after a supermarket lasagne and expect the material to be similarly leftfield. Acaster plays a number of dates in Yorkshire this month, including Ilkley, Harrogate and Leeds.
